Wise and Foolish Virgins 32nd Sunday in Ordinary Time Year A

The wise and foolish virgins. Today, the 32nd Sunday in Ordinary Time, in the parable of the ten virgins, Jesus vividly illustrates the significance of being spiritually prepared and vigilant. He describes the Kingdom of Heaven as ten virgins awaiting the bridegroom’s arrival. While the wise virgins are prepared with oil for their lamps, the foolish ones are caught off guard and find themselves excluded from the wedding banquet.

Keeping our lamps lit means consistently displaying love, humility, and service daily.

But God’s Word warns us that one day, we will face the painful reality into which people have plunged themselves by their passivity (or perhaps stupidity).
