God does not abandon us – Prayer for July 21. Bless the Lord, everybody. As Christians, we know that this walk is not always fun and games, and sometimes we even wonder if God has forgotten about us, but rest assured, He has not.
Bible Verse for Today
For the LORD will not cast off for ever: But though he causes grief, yet will he have compassion according to the multitude of his mercies. For he doth not afflict willingly nor grieve the children of men. (Lamentations (3:31-33)
David told us in Psalms 30:5 that “weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.” Sometimes that “night” lasts for days, months, and even years. We go through feelings of abandonment and may even start questioning our own faith, especially with “faith and prosperity” preachers everywhere blaming believers for their trials and tribulations, telling them it’s due to their inadequate faith.
While we cry out, “Why me, Lord,” during our affliction, we need to remember Christ, who died for our sins and was wounded for our transgressions.
He was beaten to a pulp and never said a mumbling word and accepted God’s will for His life. Knowing that God would raise Him and return Him to His former glory. We need to stop saying, “Why me,” and start saying, “Why not me, Lord?”

We are called to share in the suffering of Christ, but take heart. God chastens those He loves, and after we have suffered, He will also send times of refreshing.
God does not Abandon us Prayer for Today
Father God, thank you that your mercies are new every morning. Thank you for reminding us that you said, “I will never leave nor forsake you” in your word. And your word is true. Help us to say, “Why not me” today whenever we feel like saying, “Why me?” Help us always remember Christ’s calling and sacrifice, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
