God’s promise of protection – Prayer for November 19. Protection is the “act of protecting or the state of being protected.” It is also the act of defense from evil. We can find protection in the arms of the almighty God when we “dwell in the secret place of the Highest.” By dwelling in the secret place, we find the protection, refuge, and a fortress (Psalm 91:1-2) in the almighty God. The protection that God provides rescues us from the traps of the enemy.
Bible Verse for Today
“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” (Deuteronomy 31:6)
Our lives are full of catastrophes, roller coasters, emotional chaos, and physical and emotional pain. Therefore, it isn’t easy to know how to deal with such ups and downs.
Where do we go for protection, security, and defense? Just like a polar bear mother protects their twin cubs, in the same way, God protects those who trust Him. Just as twin cubs stick by the mother polar bear for approximately two years to learn necessary survival skills in cold climates and weather conditions, we, too, need to stick close to God to survive adverse spiritual climate conditions.
Even in a world full of terrorism, danger, brokenness, and nations and kingdoms rising against each other, we can be confident that even though we do not know what to do, we can look to God for protection.
We must, therefore, keep our eyes fixed on Jesus in every situation and circumstance, knowing that “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble” (Psalm 46:1). Therefore, we must not live in fear but have confidence in God because His Word cannot return to him void (Isaiah 55:11).
God protected Prophet Elisha while in a city called Dothan. King Aram had planned to destroy Elisha and sent an armed force to surround the city at night. Elisha’s servant was afraid because of the vast army. However, Elisha was calm and said in 2 Kings 6:16, “Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” God had provided a shield of protection over Prophet Elisha.
In the same way, God provides a shield of protection over His children. God is our shelter and “a stronghold in the day of trouble; he knows those who take refuge in him.” (Nahum 1:7). Remember always God’s promise of protection. So let us pray for God’s shield of protection.
God’s Promise of Protection Prayer for Today
Dear Father, thank You for Your shield of protection amid challenges, terrorism, homicide, world crisis, and emotional chaos. Help me to dwell in Your secret place because You are my hiding place. I trust in You, God, knowing that Your Word shall never return void. So, thank you for being my stronghold in the day of trouble. Amen.
