Help me, Lord, Fight this Loneliness devotional for October 28

Loneliness is one of the greatest fears of our time. It is one of the biggest causes of suicide, according to statistics. Unfortunately, in our society, loneliness is felt by many people. Help me, Lord, fight this loneliness.

Daily Devotional for October 28

“Though my father and mother forsake me, the Lord will receive me.” (Psalm 27:10)

There are various reasons for this: some people feel lonely because of remoteness and isolation, others feel lonely in suffering, grief, distancing themselves from others because of guilt or judgment, etc.

Help Me, Lord, Fight this Loneliness

We all feel separated from God at times. Some have even called this feeling “cosmic loneliness.” We are overwhelmed by it, don’t know what is happening to us, and feel restless. However, understand that man was created for God; without God, his heart will forever feel lonely.

But Jesus knocks on the door of our hearts and says: “I, the Lord, stand at your door. If you want to be freed from loneliness, you can open the door, and I will come in.”

God respects our freedom, so He does not kick down the door or force His way in. If we want the Lord to stay with us, we must invite Him into ourselves. When we invite Him in, He comes in and never leaves us again. From then on, we are no longer alone.

Prayer for Today

Heavenly Father, I seek Your comforting embrace in moments of solitude that weigh heavy on my soul. Dispel the shadows of loneliness with Your radiant presence, Lord. Remind me that I am never truly alone, for You are a constant companion in my journey.

Fortify my heart with the joy of Your love, and guide me towards meaningful connections with others, reflecting the warmth and unity You desire for us all. In my quietest hours, let me hear Your voice’s gentle whisper, affirming that I am held in my solitude. And if I can help, please lead me to the lonely people who desperately need to experience Your closeness. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
