Pride is a subtle yet powerful barrier that often separates us from God and others. It closes our eyes to our faults, prevents genuine growth, and keeps us from experiencing the fullness of God’s grace. Give up your pride.
It requires humility, self-awareness, and a willingness to admit our need for God’s help.
Lenten Devotional – Day 28
“When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.” (Proverbs 11:2)
Give Up Your Pride
Pride convinces us that we must rely solely on our own strength, wisdom, and abilities. It creates a false sense of superiority and isolates us from true community and fellowship.
More dangerously, pride distances us from God, as it denies our need for His guidance and grace.
Recognizing Pride in Your Life
Reflect honestly today: Are there areas in your life where pride prevents you from admitting mistakes, seeking help, or forgiving others? Do you often defend your actions or refuse to acknowledge your weaknesses?
Recognizing pride’s influence is essential for repentance and growth. Pride acts like a fortress around your heart, blocking the flow of God’s grace and hindering meaningful relationships.
Practical Steps
Begin today by acknowledging your struggle with pride before God. Ask for His guidance to cultivate humility and dependence on Him.
Practice humility intentionally—through acts of service, actively listening to others, and sincerely admitting your mistakes. Regularly meditate on scriptures highlighting humility, grace, and the importance of acknowledging your need for God.
My brother, giving up pride frees you to experience God’s grace more fully, build healthier relationships, and grow spiritually.
Daily Actions and Tips:
- Identify areas in your life where pride tends to surface and note them down.
- Pray daily, asking God to help you recognize and release pride from your heart.
