Light of Christ shows the way in the darkness – Prayer for July 22. Praise the Lord, everybody. Have you ever noticed some days when the world seems darker than usual and wondered how you would make it through without running into trouble? On those days, remember who lights your way.
Bible Verse for Today
When Jesus spoke again to the people, He said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life.” (John 8:12)
Have you ever noticed the trouble you have walking in darkness? You can’t walk confidently; you must take baby steps and feel your way around. You are stumbling and bumbling your way to your destination with fear and trepidation.
When you walk in the light, you can see where you’re walking and walk confidently because every pitfall and stumbling block is illuminated and easy to see and avoid.
This is how it works in the natural world. In the spiritual world, it works the same way. Without Christ to light the way, we tend to stumble in the darkness of our sin and sinful nature.
Satan, our enemy, likes to operate in that darkness, where he has dominion and can move freely about placing traps and stumbling blocks in our path. Those of us that are in Christ don’t have to fear the darkness. Jesus promised we would not walk in darkness as long as we followed Him. He is the light of the world.

We can walk confidently, knowing that we can avoid every trap, snare, and stumbling block put in our way by the enemy if we follow Him. So, as you go about your daily activities today, thank God you can “see” and avoid the enemy’s snares because the light of Christ lights your way.
Light of Christ Shows the Way in Darkness Prayer for Today
Father God, thank you for giving your son, Jesus, the Christ so we would have a light in this dark and evil world. We thank you that this light illuminates the way back to you, Father. Please help us to stay in the light today and every day. Help us not be tempted to return to the darkness. We pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.
