Today, God’s Word gives us an intriguing divine idea, a divine principle on how to serve others with love.
Devotional for Today
“Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.” Ephesians 5:21
This is a powerful and transformative verse found in the book of Ephesians. The essence of this verse is to encourage Christians to adopt a selfless attitude toward one another. This is not just an excellent idea but a biblical principle rooted in our faith in Jesus Christ and our reverence for Him.
The word “submit” in this verse means to surrender my ego. This is a call to submission in marriage and all of our relationships. In a world where individualism and self-promotion are often highly valued, this verse challenges us to take a different approach, prioritizing the well-being of others above our interests.
Devotional for every day here: Daily Devotional
When we submit to one another out of reverence for Jesus, we are serving others and Jesus. We reflect His love, compassion, and selflessness to the world around us. This kind of submission is not about being passive or accepting mistreatment but about putting the needs of others before our own and seeking to bring glory to God in all that we do.
In practical terms, submitting to one another out of reverence for Christ might look like putting aside our desires to serve a friend in need or choosing to listen to a colleague’s perspective, even if it is different from ours. It could also mean willingly submitting to the leadership of those in authority, whether in the workplace or church.
Serve Others with Love
Submitting to one another out of reverence for Christ is a call to a radical and selfless way of life. It challenges us to put aside our pride, ego, and self-centeredness and focus instead on serving others and bringing glory to God. As we submit to one another, we will not only build stronger relationships but also grow closer to Jesus and become more like Him in the process.
Prayer for Today
Heavenly Father, We come to you today asking for your guidance and wisdom as we seek to submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. Please help us to lay aside our pride, ego, and self-centeredness and instead focus on serving others and bringing glory to you.
Grant us the courage to put aside our desires and willingly surrender control in our relationships, whether in marriage, friendship, or the workplace. Give us the grace to listen to the perspectives of others, even when they are different from our own.
As we submit to one another, help us to reflect your love, compassion, and selflessness to the world around us. May our lives bring honor and glory to your name and grow closer to you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
