The third day of Lent is when we can step back from our busy lives and focus on our relationship with God. In Psalm 42:2, the psalmist expresses a deep longing for God. This is a familiar feeling during Lent as we strive to draw closer to God through prayer, fasting, and other spiritual practices.
Devotional for the 3rd day of Lent
“My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God?” (Psalm 42:2)
The psalmist’s words are both inspiring and comforting. They remind us that it’s okay to feel a longing for God, especially during struggle or uncertainty. This longing is a sign of our spiritual thirst, a desire to connect with something greater than ourselves.
Devotional for every day here: Daily Devotional
When the psalmist asks, “When can I go and meet with God?” it’s a reminder that God is always present and available to us. We don’t have to wait for a specific time or place to connect with God. We can meet with God anytime, anywhere, through prayer, meditation, or simply by being present.
We can use this time during Lent to deepen our spiritual practice and draw closer to God. This may involve setting aside time for daily prayer or meditation, attending church services, or volunteering in our communities. Whatever practices we choose should be meaningful and help us connect with God on a deeper level.
As we journey through Lent, let us remember the words of Psalm 42:2 and embrace our spiritual thirst. Let us seek opportunities to meet with God and deepen our relationship. And let us trust that God is always with us, guiding us on our journey and comforting us in times of need.
Prayer for Today
Heavenly Father, we come to you with open hearts and minds. We long to draw closer to you and deepen our relationship with you. Help us to set aside distractions and make time for prayer, meditation, and reflection. May your spirit guide us as we journey through this season of preparation and renewal.
We pray for strength and perseverance as we face challenges and obstacles. Help us to trust in your love and guidance, even when we don’t understand your ways. May we find comfort and peace in your presence, knowing you are always with us.
We ask for your blessing during this Lenten season. May it be a time of spiritual growth and transformation as we seek to become more like you. And may our actions and attitudes reflect your love and grace as we strive to live out our faith in the world. In Jesus’ name, we pray, Amen.
