My brother, we find ourselves living in the post-truth era, a landscape dominated by shifting opinions, raw emotions, and subjective narratives where people claim, “My truth is my truth, and your truth is yours.” It is a culture of radical relativism, where everything is permitted, yet nothing carries any lasting value anymore. In today’s Daily Devotional for August 8, Anchored in the Truth, we look at how Christ calls us to respond to this fading world.

“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.” (Matthew 5:13)
The Danger of Losing Our Point of Reference
When God, who is our objective point of reference, is removed from the center of society, humanity quickly gets lost in the dark. Without a true north, people drift aimlessly on a sea of opinions. Yet, Matthew 5:13–19 reminds us that Truth is not merely an abstract concept, a philosophical system, or a political ideology. Truth is a Person, and His name is Christ.
Jesus does not invite us to withdraw from a confusing culture or to condemn a lost world from behind high walls. Instead, He calls us to proclaim the Gospel anew with courage and great love.
Today, the Church does not need defensive closure or fearful isolation; it needs to hear the living call of Jesus: go, shine, and proclaim. When everything around us is melting into subjective opinion, we are called to be the unyielding salt and the steady light, pointing others back to the unchanging anchor of God’s love.

Prayer for Today
Lord, I look at the confusion, relativism, and noise of the world today, and I confess that it is easy to feel overwhelmed. When society tries to sweep away objective truth, protect my heart from drifting. Help me not to hide behind defensive walls or condemn those who are lost. Fill me with courage and great love, and make me a bright light in a faceless culture, pointing everyone I meet to You, the only true anchor. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
