Staying focused on Christ – Prayer for November 11. Praise the Lord, everybody!
For Christians, the world is full of attractions and distractions. It is like a shiny object to a child, but as men and women of God, we are called to look past the glitter and stay focused on Christ.
Bible Verse for Today
Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world. (1 John 2:15-16)
God has warned us not to love the world and the things of this world because our true Fatherland is in Heaven. Our problem in the Body of Christ is that many “Christians” want to live partly in Heaven and partly in the world.
Devotional for every day: Daily Devotional
They say they “love the Lord,” but at the first opportunity, they turn back to the world, and some have gone so far as to try to integrate the world into the Church, even though God’s Word is clear that we are not to love the world or the things of the world.
Yes, we live in this world, but our hearts must have an unequivocal desire for Heaven. If you choose this world as your homeland, you will never reach the Kingdom of God.
Satan, “the prince of this world,” is trying to bring as much hell as possible into the world. The world is enemy territory.
For example, there are rumors that two old gangs, the Bloods and the Crips, still exist in California. These two gangs hate each other, and If one gets caught in their territory, he either gets beaten down or killed.
It was once said that we Christians are in the same situation. We are under the Blood, the blood of Jesus Christ, and the World is crippled and blinded by the devil’s lies. We are of the “blood,” and they are the “crips” in this spiritual “gang” fight.
Blood-washed Christians need to stop going into “Crips” territory. We can’t be a part of a royal priesthood on one day and in fellowship with the world the next day.
If you, as a man or woman of God, keep crossing over into enemy territory unless you are on a mission from God, you will be devoured by the trappings of this world. The Lord does not need double-minded.
In Christ, we have died to our old life and are new creatures according to God’s Word. We cannot get drunk all the time in nightclubs, nor can we lend our bodies to prostitutes or our eyes to pornography.
1 Corinthians 15:33 states, “Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character.”
Do not be fooled; bad influences will affect those trying to do right before those trying to do right can affect those who do evil. It is time for the Church to forsake this world and prepare for the fight of its life as the devil prepares to make his final assault. Don’t get caught in enemy territory. God bless you all.
Staying Focused on Christ – Prayer for Today
Father God, forgive us for our double-mindedness. Please help us put the things of this world behind us. Help us, Lord, to remember that there are boundaries between darkness and light. Lord, always help us remain in the light. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
