Healing power of Jesus Christ – Prayer for November 16. Healing can be defined as “the process of making or becoming sound or healthy again.” It is where a person is “made free from injury or disease; to make sound or whole.”
A person can experience both physical and mental sickness, and such infirmities must be experienced for healing. Although infirmities do not come from God, through illness, God can demonstrate His divine healing powers. Therefore, both physical and mental sickness produces the need for the healing power of Jesus Christ.
The Hebrew Word raphah (Strong’s 7495) means a physician and to be healed of personal distress. The Greek word iasis (Strong’s 2392) means to supernaturally heal. Therefore, healing is a divine supernatural process mixed with faith, belief, and the power of Jesus Christ that works in and through us.
Bible Verse for Today
She said to herself, “If I only touch his cloak, I will be healed.”
Jesus turned and saw her. “Take heart, daughter,” he said, “your faith has healed you.” And the woman was healed at that moment. (Matthew 9:21-22)
The woman with the issue of blood, for 12 years, experienced physical, emotional, and personal distress. As a result, she spent all of her income on physicians, hoping to receive natural healing. The natural realm of healing is where a person relies on doctors and nurses to utilize their expertise in administering various processes and medications to make the sick person healthy.
But in the case of the woman with the issue of blood, no one or nothing could heal her. Natural healing could only go so far in helping this woman. For supernatural healing to occur, she needed to exercise faith, belief, and the power of the Holy Spirit working within her.
Her situation required supernatural healing, and it was through encountering the healing power of Jesus Christ she was cured; “if only I touch his cloak, I will be healed” (Matthew 9:21). Jesus said, “your faith has healed you”; and the woman was cured from that very hour” (Matthew 9:22).
Therefore, having faith in Jesus Christ means that we can experience supernatural healing because “without faith, it is impossible to please God.” Also, to receive supernatural healing from physical and mental infirmities, we must appreciate that Jesus Christ bore our sickness when he died on the Cross.
We must also believe, “For he who comes to God must believe” (Hebrews 11:6). The healing power of Jesus Christ must also be aligned to God’s will, purpose and timing. Let us pray for the healing power of Jesus Christ.
