The greatness of God’s love for us – Prayer for Lent #day 25. Jesus came down from Glory to the earth and did not stop there. He died for the sins of man. Why did do this and what is our gain?
Bible Verse for Today
“For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.” (Romans 5:10)
Jesus did not just come to the world to preach the gospel or to make the works of God known to man. Although all of these were parts of his works, the major reason is that He came down to earth to die for the sins of man. God sent Jesus Christ to come and die for us. From the Bible Text, he came to reconcile us with God through his blood. The blood is so precious that it destroyed the power of sin and the power of hell.
We know what had happened in the beginning. The man fell and God stayed far away from God because of his sins. There was a move to destroy sin in the lives of men in the Old Testament.
God gave a direction that the ram should be sacrificed and the blood for cleansing but this wasn’t enough. Hebrews 10:4 “For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats should take away sins.” When this couldn’t save anymore, God prepared a living sacrifice, Jesus Christ, to die for our sins. This is the reason why Jesus died for us.
One more reason why Jesus died for us is because of Love. Jesus loved us and God loved us. John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believe in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
The love of God is so great
The love of God is so great. We should not let this be in vain over us. This is the time we should consider the death of Jesus as one that paved the way to our salvation. By faith, we should accept him.
There is nothing greater than the love that He has shown us. It is a different thing we loved him before he loved us but we did not even love him, he showed us love first because while we were sinners, Jesus chose to die for us.
The Greatness of God’s Love for Us Prayer for Today
Dear Lord, I know you love and that is why you have died for me. I don’t want your death over me to be in vain – Lord, help me to follow you and acknowledge the fact that showed me love and died for me. Let your blood wash away my sins today Lord and direct me on the right path. Amen.
