Let this prayer give you peace of heart to prepare for surgery. In such situations, it is essential to understand that the success of surgery depends not only on the doctors’ qualifications but also on God. He is the master of Life and death. Therefore, in preparation for the surgery, prayer is necessary.
Prayer for Successful Surgery
Short Prayer for Surgery to Go Well
Father God, please take control of the surgeons’ minds and hands, for you are the great Physician and the creator of all things. Let this surgery be a success with no side effects and no need for rehab, do it for your glory, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Let’s speak about the topic, which every Christian has had to deal with at one time or another, and that is the prayer for surgery to go well. Of course, some Christians don’t believe it, but God can use man’s surgery to heal.
Prayer before Surgery
First, before we can pray for medical or surgical healing, we must realize it is not the surgeon we have to pray for. Instead, we should pray that God would work through the surgeon. Then, we must pray that God, by His Spirit, would overshadow the Doctor and take control of his mind and hands.
Bible Verses about Healing
Jesus tells us in Mark 9:17-19, “A man in the crowd answered, “Teacher, I brought you my son, who is possessed by a spirit that has robbed him of speech. Whenever it seizes him, it throws him to the ground. He foams at the mouth, gnashes his teeth, and becomes rigid. I asked your disciples to drive out the spirit, but they could not.” “You unbelieving generation,” Jesus replied, “how long shall I stay with you? How long shall I put up with you? Bring the boy to me.”
Like the father in the above scripture, we must bring the subject before Jesus in faith, believing He can do anything but fail. So then, as we say a prayer for the surgery to go well, we need to learn to put the entire situation in God’s hands, trusting that He knows what is best for the person having the surgery and for us.
Prayer for Surgery for Friend
Verse 20 states: “So they brought him. When the spirit saw Jesus, it immediately threw the boy into a convulsion. He fell to the ground and rolled around, foaming at the mouth.”
Sometimes we go before God with the petition for the person, and as we see here, the situation worsens. It is during these times that our faith is being tested. This is not the time to give up; it’s the time to look up onto the hills from whence come to your help.

We see this example in verses 22-27: “It has often thrown him into fire or water to kill him. But if you can do anything, take pity on us and help us.” “‘If you can?” said Jesus. “Everything is possible for one who believes.” Immediately the boy’s father exclaimed, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!”
When Jesus saw a crowd running to the scene, he rebuked the impure spirit. “You deaf and mute spirit,” he said, “I command you, come out of him and never enter him again.” The spirit shrieked, convulsed him violently, and came out. The boy looked so much like a corpse that many said, “He’s dead.” But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him to his feet, and he stood up.”
Just like the young man’s father in the above scripture, when we say a prayer for surgery to go well, and we find our faith beginning to fade, that is when we need to humble ourselves and ask God to help our unbelief just as He did for the father of the young man in verses 25-27.
