Fear is a common struggle, but God’s Word reminds us – Don’t Be Afraid. Today, let’s find encouragement in God’s presence and promises.
Daily Devotional for January 24
“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you.” (Deuteronomy 31:8)
Don’t Be Afraid
Fear is a natural human emotion and has a protective function. However, as with all feelings, it must be in harmony with all the other elements of life. Fear is out of bounds in many people’s lives; it occurs without justification, is persistent, and can complicate or even destroy life.
The presence of God is a powerful antidote to fear. Understanding that He is always with us can transform our perspective on fear.
God’s Constant Presence
One of the most comforting truths in the Bible is that God is always with us. He promises never to fail or forsake us; just as He sustained David, so He sustains us.
A Life Without Fear
Living without fear means to be able to act freely and without restraint with impunity, to be able to live without constant apprehension, and to reduce fear to its rightful place.
It is a state of mind where one is not burdened by constant worry and anxiety but instead is able to focus on the present moment and enjoy life to the fullest.
Imagine a life free from fear. While it’s natural to experience fear, God invites us to live by faith, not allowing fear to steal our joy. Fear can bring torment, but God offers peace and assurance.
Faith Over Fear
Continually studying God’s Word and praying strengthens our faith, helping us to rise above fear. God doesn’t want us to be tormented by fear; He wants us to enjoy a life of abundance and joy.
God’s Gradual Deliverance
God often delivers us from our fears gradually. Each day is an opportunity to grow stronger in faith and trust in His sustenance.

Prayer for Today
Lord, I choose to focus on Your presence in my life today. Help me to remember that I need not fear because You are with me. Strengthen my faith, and help me to trust in Your promises. As I face challenges and fears, remind me that You are my sustainer and protector. Teach me to rely on You and not to let fear control my life. Thank You for the assurance that You are always with me and that I can live a life free from fear. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
To You
Reflect on areas of your life where fear might be holding you back. How can you apply God’s promise not to be afraid in these situations?
As you go through this day, carry with you the assurance that God is with you. Let His presence be your strength and courage, and remember, don’t be afraid, for the Lord your God is always by your side. Amen.
