Ask God according to His will – Prayer for February 9. When you pray to God and when you stay at the corner of your room and cry to God calling Him to give you what you need, are you getting an answer? This is a question that we need to ask ourselves as Christians.
Bible Verse for Today
“When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.” (James 4:3)
This verse of the Bible is not uncommon to most of us as we are aware of it. The main reason why we don’t get the answers to our prayer is when we seek amiss. Many times we have heard people complain that their prayers are not being answered. We ourselves complain sometimes too and it brings doubts and we think God is not listening to us anymore.
In most cases, I have found out that many people, when they ask from God, ask for some selfish reasons. God does not like selfishness. If He detects selfishness in our prayers, He will not be moved to answer it. So we should have this in our mind that if we ask Him something to satisfy our selfish desire, He will not answer us.
Sometimes also, we ask from God just to show others that we have what they don’t have. This is like mocking other people for not having what we have.
Everything that we have came from God. He didn’t give us so that we will use it to oppress people but to use it to help others that are in need of it. The real thing that moves God to answer our prayers is when we ask in accordance with His will and His will is that all men are saved.
Whenever we pray we should ask God for things so that when people see it, they will be moved to give glory to God and then wish to be a Christian.
Ask God According to His Will Prayer for Today
I know I might have been asking amiss, Lord. I might have been doing this consciously or unconsciously. And I pray that you forgive me and help me to ask what will glorify your name alone. Help me not to oppress people with the things I have but to use it to help them and make them come to you. Direct my steps today and make me go the right path, Lord. Amen.
