What is biblical faith? Today, in our Daily Devotional for June 30, let’s explore how faith moves us from fear to peace by trusting wholly in God.
Daily Devotional for June 30
“Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” – Isaiah 41:10 (NIV)
From Fear to Peace
Biblical faith begins with believing that God exists and that He loves us so much that He sent Jesus to save us. It involves putting our complete trust in Christ’s salvation, placing our lives in His hands, and believing that Jesus not only can save us but will save us.
Understanding Biblical Faith
Biblical faith is not a leap in the dark. It is not hoping something will catch us on the other side. Instead, it is a complete trust in the trustworthy God who is always there and who is not silent. Faith connects us to Jesus and transforms our lives.
For example, in Mark 5:21-43, we see how faith took Jairus from a life of fear to peace and how it took the woman from a life of suffering to healing.
Faith does more than make us feel better; it connects us to Jesus and His power.
The Journey of Faith
We are on a faith journey, ranging from unfaith to complete faith. On one end, unfaith says, “Jesus was a good teacher, but I can’t trust the Bible or call Him Lord.”
On the other end, complete faith says, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life” (John 6:68-69).
In the middle are those who are uncertain. They might say, “Maybe Jesus is trustworthy. Maybe He isn’t. Maybe I’ll follow. Maybe I won’t.”
This group includes people making their way to Jesus with an honest heart and those just curious for an exciting conversation.
Moving to Complete Faith
The passage in Mark helps us determine our position on this spectrum of faith. More importantly, it shows us where Jesus wants us to move: from fear to peace, from uncertainty to complete trust in Him.
By trusting in God’s promises and relying on His strength, we can move from fear to peace. As Isaiah 41:10 assures us, we do not need to fear because God is with us, He will strengthen us, help us, and uphold us with His righteous right hand.
