We are witnessing disgusting changes in today’s society. It is not without reason that we say post-Christian society. The further we get from God, the more we hear advice from the “new spirituality” to focus on ourselves, distance ourselves from those not useful to us, and put our interests first. But as Christians, we are called to a different standard. Follow Christ’s example of selfless love.

“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.” (Philippians 2:3-4)
Follow Example of Selfless Love
When we look at the life and teachings of Jesus, we see a radical display of selflessness. Jesus didn’t prioritize His needs or comfort but poured His love and compassion on others. He embraced the outcasts, healed the broken, and showed kindness to the undeserving. His love knew no boundaries or limits.
As followers of Christ, we are called to reflect His selfless love in our lives. It means putting the needs of others before our own, extending grace and forgiveness to those who have wronged us, and showing kindness and compassion to those around us. It means stepping out of our comfort zones and engaging with people who may not be easy to love.
That sounds shocking. But this is how God defines love. (1 Corinthians 13:4-7)
It’s important to remember that the principles Jesus lived by are timeless and unchanging. The world’s messages of self-centeredness and pride should not contaminate our hearts and minds.

So, let us resist the world’s influence and embrace the call to selfless love. May we continually seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit to live out this love in our everyday interactions and relationships. In doing so, we become channels of God’s love and vessels of His transformative power.
Prayer for Today
Heavenly Father, we seek to follow Christ’s example of selfless love. Help us to overcome the influence of the world and its selfishness. Fill our hearts with compassion, kindness, and a genuine concern for others. Teach us to value others above ourselves and to humbly serve and love those around us. Empower us by Your Spirit to make a difference in the lives of others through selfless acts of love. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
