God’s Word for Inner Healing – Today, in our Daily Devotional for July 9, let’s explore how God’s Word serves as medicine for a wounded soul.
Daily Devotional for July 9
“He sent out his word and healed them; he rescued them from the grave.” – Psalm 107:20 (NIV)
God’s Word for Inner Healing
God’s Word is a medicine that heals our minds, emotions, wills, attitudes, consciences, and behaviors.
Just as there are different types of medicines available for various diseases and wounds of the physical body, the Scriptures positively affect our joy, peace, and confidence. They can cure fear, insecurity, and negativity.
The Healing Power of Scripture
Just as we get a prescription from the doctor, patiently take our medicine as often as we are supposed to, and get it refilled when needed, we should approach God’s Word similarly.
For example, countless scriptures help us deal with fear. If we are worried or anxious, we can turn to the Bible for comfort and guidance.
I am convinced there is no problem for which God’s Word doesn’t have an answer. Bible study may sound daunting, but finding the proper support can make a big difference. Join a Bible study group or find a pastor or teacher who makes Scripture applicable to everyday life.
Be determined to understand the Bible, and ask the Holy Spirit to help you learn something each time you read it.
Practical Steps for Bible Study
One effective way to study the Bible is to focus on areas where you need help rather than reading randomly.
Many good Bible-based books on topics like rejection, shame, guilt, fear, worry, and emotional healing are available. These resources can provide valuable insights and guidance.
Wounded, dysfunctional people often spend significant amounts of money on treatment centers or professional counseling, which can be very beneficial. However, sometimes, these same individuals overlook the value of investing in Bible-based books or attending Christian conferences that could be life-changing.
Developing a Love for God’s Word
If you are serious about healing a wounded soul, you need to develop a love for God’s Word. See it for what it is: not merely words on a page but life, healing, strength, courage, and everything else you need.
