Be a man of God – Prayer for October 5. Praise the Lord everybody! When God looks around at todays Church and sees what we are passing off as “Holy men of God”, “men of faith” He must be disappointed in what he is seeing.
Bible Verse for Today
“And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets: who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions. Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.
Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection: and others had trial of cruel mocking’s and scourging’s, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment: they were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented.” (Hebrews 11:32-37)
God is letting us know what real men of faith endured because of their faith and are still enduring today, but where are today’s examples? Where are today’s men of faith?
Our so-called Church leaders today bend and fold like a Castro Convertible couch when it comes time to stand up for issues that are not popular with the people, for example the mainstreaming of homosexuality. Those willing to stand up for the Word of God are few and far between.
Most of today’s “men of God” seem to be only concerned about what can be gained in the here and now, the above scripture talks about men of faith who endured torture “that they might obtain a better resurrection“. We need to be praying less “take this cup” and more “not mine but thine will be done.” God knows what’s best for us, each one of us has a purpose and each and everything we go through has a reason in His plan.
We must stop saying we trust God and start proving we trust God
When we ask God to remove us from certain situations we must also ask if it is His will for us to be removed. We must stop saying we trust God and start proving we trust God. When God allows various trials to come upon us it’s because He is trying to make us, mold us and prepare us to go to higher heights and deeper depths in Christ.
The same spirit that spurred on those early men of God is still available to each and every one of us. Let’ create our own legends. God bless you all.
Be a Man of God Prayer for Today
Father God, we thank you that the same spirit that impowered the men of God of old, is in us today. Help us Lord to hear your spirit and be obedient when it speaks to us. I promise to be a man of God. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
