Be Obedient, trust God always – Prayer for August 15. Praise the Lord, everybody! As a Christian, have you ever felt the Holy Spirit instructs you to do something, and you want to be obedient, but something does not quite make sense to you? Trust God always because disobedience is a selfish act.
Bible Verse for Today
“Then the word of the Lord came to him, “Arise, go to Zarephath, which belongs to Sidon, and dwell there. Behold, I have commanded a widow there to feed you.” (1 Kings 17:8-9)
Elijah’s survival in this incident depends on the obedience of two people, himself and the widow. Imagine if Elijah had traveled to where God had instructed and found that the woman had been disobedient.
He would have found the woman and her son died from starvation because that is what she had planned, she and her son were down to their last bit of flour, and she had made up her mind that they were going to make one last loaf of bread and then die, but out of obedience, she gave her last to Elijah.

And we see what happens in verses “13-14: “And Elijah said to her, “Do not fear; go and do as you have said. But first, make me a little cake of it and bring it to me, and afterward, make something for yourself and your son. For thus says the Lord, the God of Israel, ‘The jar of flour shall not be spent, and the jug of oil shall not be empty, until the day that the Lord sends rain upon the earth.'”
There is a blessing in living an obedient life, but the blessing may not be just for you, so don’t be selfish, be obedient, and everyone will benefit. God Bless you.
Be Obedient Prayer for Today
Father, thank you for loving us enough to let us know how selfish we are in disobeying you. Help us to have an obedient spirit, reminding ourselves that our obedience not only blesses you but can also bless someone else. Lord, help us to see the whole picture and not just ourselves. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.
