Overcoming doubts – Prayer for Lent #day 18. One of the things we should know about doubt is that it kills faith. We have read about the resurrection of Jesus Christ, why should we allow doubt to take over our lives and then kill our faith. Let’s tell God to kill doubt in us.
Bible Verse for Today
“Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here, and see my hands; and put out your hand, and place it in my side. Do not disbelieve, but believe.” (John 20:27)
After Jesus resurrected from the dead, some apostles saw Him on the road. They were happy and they took the news to the rest of the apostles.
Thomas didn’t see Jesus so when they gave the news, he did not believe them. Thomas doubted the resurrection of Jesus Christ. This is the situation that most of us find ourselves in, we doubt God and think he cannot do what we want or what we ask for. This is the reason why most people choose to do their works themselves without including God or call Him for help.
We are limited, we shouldn’t leave God out of what we do in life. With faith we will move mountains, we will command them to move and go into the sea. This ability can only be killed by doubt.
Jesus has come and he has left with us great things. We will get all of these if we deal with the spirit of doubt in us. Matthew 14:31 “And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?” If we are doing something, maybe amid a job, a business, or a project, if we start to doubt the success, it will start to sink.
There is a need for us to face Jesus and look at him alone because he is the author and the finisher of faith. In this time of Lent, we need to trust God for a new thing and not doubt Him.
Let us pray that this Lent period will be a blessing to us and everyone around us.
Overcoming Doubts Prayer for Today
Lord, if I have ever doubted you and think in my heart that you can’t help me. I ask for forgiveness. Lord, please strengthen my faith in you and never let doubt have space in me. Doubt kills faith if at a point count has killed faith in me. I pray that you revive the faith in me and let me grow in faith. Amen.
