Start a new life in Christ – Prayer for #day 26. When Christ died, he was raised again from the dead. In this way, if we give our life to Christ, we die to the flesh, we die to sin, we die to every evil act and when we confess Christ, we accept new life through Him.
Bible Verse for Today
“Even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.” (Ephesians 2:5-6)
Bible text shows us that, in the mind of eternal justice when God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he raised us together with him. God meant to raise us but couldn’t do that without the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. So he raised us together with him. In essence, we are objects of Jesus Resurrection. Jesus Christ is our substitute he took our place and died instead of us. So when he was raised from the dead you are raised together with him.
Jesus’ death was for us and so His resurrection we have identified with him in death and so we have in his Resurrection. What have we been raised from? From the pit of sin. The Word tells us in our opening verse that even when we were dead in sins, God has quickened or made us alive together with Christ.
There are many things that we have done that required punishment. The reward of sin is death. Not just physical death but spiritual death. Jesus had to destroy this death and give us eternal life. Then he died and conquered death. John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
This eternal life that he wants to give has to do with his resurrection. We will have to go through the same procedure that he went through. We will kill our flesh, we will put it to total control just like through Lent. After this, we will lift our spirit in Christ, we will be transformed in the spirit and we are entitled to eternal life.
Start a New Life in Christ Prayer for Today
Dear Lord, I thank you because in you for eternal life. I know that you will give me this eternal life and will never leave me to face the reward of sin which is death. I confess you, Lord, let me be raised in glory according to your will. And I promise to start a new life in Christ. Amen.
