Pray for your enemies – Prayer for February 16. Not a single man on earth will be devoid of enemies. We all have enemies, and the Bible tells us about enemies and what we should do to them. So what should we do to our enemies?
Bible Verse for Today
“You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.” (Matthew 5:43-44)
What was formerly written was “hate your enemy,” but Jesus came in and established a new one to promote Love.
One thing we should know is that enemies have levels. We have those that envy us; we have those that want our downfall. And we have the extreme ones that find all way to get us killed. Finally, of course, we have the overall enemy, Satan.

Anyone born again and born into Christ automatically has the devil as their enemy. Satan doesn’t want anyone to be free from him. He wants to keep everyone in darkness and bind age, but once one is out, he gets angry and finds ways to get them back. 1 Peter 5:8 “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.”
The Bible indeed says we should pray for our enemies. This is to show the level of Love we must display. So when we see the one who hates us and is always full of bitterness, the best thing to do is to pray for them and show love.
That is strictly on the level of a human enemy. It was never said in the Bible that we should pray for Satan. He should be prayed against instead and avoided. Ephesians 6:12 “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”
Pray for your Enemies Prayer for Today
Lord, I thank you for your word today. You have told me to love my enemies and pray for them. Thank you because you have given me a heart of love. I pray that you help me to show it to those that hate me and those who do not want to see my progress – allow me to pray for them instead. Amen.
