WE SERVE THE LORD Prayer for November 21

We serve the Lord – Prayer for November 21. Praise the Lord, everybody!

When God looks down from on high at man, He often sees us down here struggling to make a name for ourselves, trying to leave some legacy for those coming behind us; even in the Church, you find this. So ask yourself today, “Whose legacy am I trying to preserve?”

Bible Verse for Today

Jesus left the temple and was walking away when his disciples came up to him to call his attention to its buildings. “Do you see all these things?” he asked. “Truly I tell you, not one stone here will be left on another; every one will be thrown down.” (Matthew 24:1-2)

Everywhere you look in America and the world, you see men building grand edifices with their names blazing across them. In New York, you see old brownstone buildings up in Harlem being restored to their original beauty and put on display for tour groups from all over the world. Men build mega-churches with their family names on them.

Devotional for every day: Daily Devotional

God sees us struggling to hold on to what cannot be held on to—holding on feebly to the natural when we need to hold onto that which is spiritual. As a result, we are not as concerned as we should be about our spiritual legacies.

Our lives here on earth have become too precious to us. Our own creations and ideas fill our hearts and minds, and being out and about our Father’s business is something that we rarely think about. Christians are following the world instead of Christ. We need to remember who we are and whom we serve.

We are here on earth for a short time; God has a mission for us. It’s not about establishing our legacy; it’s about building the legacy of Jesus Christ. Jesus died for us so that we could be saved from ourselves and reconciled with God by His blood.

The only thing Jesus was concerned about leaving behind as His “legacy” was His Gospel and the Holy Spirit to empower a man to spread the Gospel and to live godly lifestyles. As men and women of God, our concern should be that we bear spiritual fruit rather than worldly fruit.

So, let us preserve those things that genuinely need maintenance.

God bless you all.

We Serve the Lord – Prayer for Today

Father God, forgive us for taking our eyes off you and focusing on ourselves and the world. Lord, help us stay focused on you and the mission assigned to us. Help us remember what is essential and what must be preserved. We promise to serve the Lord. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
