Staying in God’s will – Prayer for September 4. Praise the Lord everybody, for He alone is worthy to be praised! Ever since Adam ate the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of “good and evil,” man has spent his time devising plans and ideas that seem “right” to him, but don’t always lead to where we need to go.
Bible Verse for Today
There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. (Proverbs 14:12)
The fall of man from the beginning has led him on a journey. A journey with many paths, some leading to victory and salvation and reconciliation with God. The others lead sin, and the wages of sin is death. The problem that most people have in the world is, that they can’t tell the difference.
Those without Christ are depending on their carnal minds to lead them. They lack spiritual discernment and therefore are open to every trick of the enemy. The carnal mind does not understand the things of God.
The carnal mind seeks to satisfy the flesh and its desires, and the desires of the flesh are never satisfied, leading to not only physical death but spiritual death.
Christians know, or at least should know that “the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God…” (2 Corinthians 10:4) Not only are our “weapons” not carnal but because “wrestle not against flesh and blood,” nothing we do as Christians should be based on carnal thinking.
God is spirit, and we must serve Him in spirit. Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians 2:16, that “we have the mind of Christ.” Meaning Christians have access to the mind of Christ, through His word and by His spirit, and the mind of Christ desires to do the will of God.
Everything we do, should be to the glory of God
So as Christians, when we have an idea that “seemeth” right to us, we need to line it up against God’s word, and test it with prayer and the Holy Spirit, using our spiritual discernment. Everything we do should be to the glory of God, then everything we do will not just seem right, it will be right. God bless you all.
Staying in God’s Will Prayer for Today
Father, we thank you that we don’t have to make our own way. We thank you that your way does not lead to death but to everlasting life. We understand that the only way to salvation is staying in God’s will. Father help us to always remember that we have the mind of Christ and that carnality has no place in our lives. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
