Always remember that Christ is the center of life. This will bring blessing to your marriage. The path to marriage is the path that pleases God. However, it is often tricky because the vocation to the family and the affairs of this world are intertwined and demanding.
Devotional for Today February 9
The unmarried man is anxious about the things of the Lord, how to please the Lord. But the married man is anxious about worldly things, how to please his wife, and his interests are divided. (full text at 1 Corinthians 7:25-40)
Christ is the Center of Life
The apostle Paul sends a message to Christians seeking marriage that life’s daily worries are challenging but not overwhelming. Therefore, there is no need to be afraid.
But there are more important concerns: being a disciple of Jesus, a believer, and a Christian.
Whoever always remembers that Christ is the center of life will be blessed in all the troubles that life in marriage and family brings. Every tear will be wiped away by the loving hand of God. Every laugh will be the true joy of the Holy Spirit.
A Special Path
The Apostle Paul’s message to those who want to choose the whole way and remain single for the sake of the Kingdom of God: “You are choosing the more noble way.”
Such people want nothing other than to “be holy in body and soul.” Of course, this is the vocation of every Christian. But being single gives them more freedom to devote their time to personal growth, holiness, and service in the proclamation of the Gospel.
Devotional for every day here: Daily Devotional
Paul says it is natural for a married person to put their family first. And that is very good.
But the unmarried person has every opportunity to devote all his time to serving the Lord. And it is beautiful that such people are emerging.
Prayer for Today
Lord, you have called me to life; thank you for that. You make my life meaningful. You also give me opportunities to realize myself and my vocation. This gives meaning to my existence and life. I thank You very much for that.
Please help me to understand and never forget that the Kingdom of God is more important than this world. Please help me to realize that my homeland is in Heaven. And help me to live in such a way that the cares of the material world do not overwhelm me. You, Lord, will always be the only goal of my life. Amen.
