Every mature Christian understands that by justifying our mistakes or weaknesses, we close the way to our own improvement and God’s grace. Today, in our daily devotional, Overcoming Excuses, for February 19, let’s examine how to reach the fullness God has foreseen for us.

“But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.'” (2 Corinthians 12:9)
Overcoming Excuses
Even before the world’s creation, God foresaw what path of life would be ideal for you and what mission you could fulfill on this earth.
However, when we are free to make our own decisions, we often stray far from God’s intended path. Then, we look for who is to blame for it.
It is often challenging to admit that your own decisions have led you astray. Furthermore, our attempts to justify compromises with our conscience push us even deeper into lostness.
But God is looking for you and coming out to meet you like that prodigal son. So, even if you think you are a loser and are not successful in life, do not despair. God will give you the grace to open your eyes and find the determination to return to the path of the fullness of life God foresaw.
Your Destiny Awaits
There’s no valid excuse for not pursuing the destiny God has laid out for you. Weaknesses? God’s strength is perfected in them. Your past? It’s been made new in Christ. It’s not about your capability but His through you.
The Mirror of God’s Word
How you see yourself can be the most significant barrier to your success. If you view yourself through the lens of God’s Word, acknowledging your identity as recreated in His image, no excuse can hold you back from achieving His purposes for you.
Claiming Your Destiny
Your destiny in God is waiting for you to step forward and claim it. Overcoming excuses starts with a decision to trust in God’s transforming power and to see yourself as He sees you—capable, chosen, and equipped for greatness.

Prayer for Today
Father, thank You for choosing me, weaknesses and all, to display Your strength and grace. Help me to overcome excuses that keep me from stepping into my destiny in You. I renounce any justification that holds me back, embracing Your truth that I am made new in Christ and equipped for every good work You have prepared for me. Guide me to see myself through Your eyes and live out Your extraordinary plan for my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
