From social media feeds to the latest trends, we’re bombarded with images and information that can easily capture our attention. But today’s devotional invites us to look beyond the seen – find joy in the invisible.
Daily Devotional for June 4th
“So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” (2 Corinthians 4:18)
Shifting Our Focus
The world we see is constantly changing. Trends fade, possessions wear out, and circumstances can shift instantly. It’s easy to get caught up in this ever-changing landscape and lose sight of what truly matters.
Today’s verse reminds us to find joy in the invisible, fixing our eyes on the eternal things. “No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.” (1 John 4:12)
Imagine walking through a dark forest. Though you can’t see the path ahead, you trust your guide, knowing they hold a light illuminating the way. Similarly, God is our guide in this life.
Though we may not always see the path ahead, we can walk confidently, knowing He leads us with His invisible light.
Find Joy in the Invisible
So, how do we cultivate this joy in the unseen?
- Focus on God’s character. His faithfulness, love, and power are constant, even when circumstances seem bleak. When we focus on these attributes, we find a deep well of joy that transcends temporary troubles.
- Trust His promises. Hold onto God’s promises during difficult times. Meditate on verses that speak of His love, provision, and strength. This anchor will bring you joy and stability.
- Seek His presence. Prayer and spending time in scripture allow us to connect with God and experience His peace, even amidst life’s storms. As we cultivate this intimate relationship with the invisible God, we discover a deep well of joy that overflows into every area of our lives.
