Today, in the Daily Devotional for April 28, “The Frequency of Faith,” we are looking at the static on the line between God and us. We often think the problem is a “bad connection” on His end, but today’s wisdom suggests the issue might be our own volume settings.
The Frequency of Faith – Daily Devotional for April 28
“My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.” (John 10:27)
The Myth of the Silent God
The problem lies not in the words, but in the hearing.
The Jews demand that Jesus “speak plainly.” Yet the Lord replies: “I told you, but you do not believe.” We often complain that God is silent or that He fails to answer our prayers with undeniable signs. However, the issue is rarely God’s silence; rather, it is our own reluctance to accept His answer exactly as it is.
Jesus declares: “My sheep hear my voice.” Knowing God is not an intellectual feat but a relationship. If we are not “His sheep” – if we do not trust Him or live according to His word – we will fail to recognize His voice even if He were to shout directly into our ear.
Faith is the inner sense of hearing that allows us to discern God’s hand where others see only coincidence.

Prayer for Today
Heavenly Father, I confess that I have often blamed Your “silence” for my own unwillingness to listen. Forgive me for ignoring the answers I didn’t like. Today, I want to tune my heart to Your frequency. Help me to live as one of Your sheep, trusting Your lead and recognizing Your voice amid the noise. Give me that inner hearing that sees Your hand in every part of my day. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
To You
Think about a “coincidence” that happened recently: a timely phone call, an unexpected bit of help, or a sudden moment of peace. Instead of moving past it, stop and treat it as a “plain word” from God. Spend three minutes in silence today, not asking for anything, but simply saying: “Lord, Your sheep is listening.”
