We need to be very careful about our attitude toward sinners. Today, in our Daily Devotional for June 20, let’s explore what it means to love like Jesus and show compassion without compromising our faith.
Daily Devotional for June 20
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.” – Romans 3:23-24 (NIV)
Love Like Jesus
Our attitude toward sinners should reflect the love and compassion that Jesus demonstrated. We must avoid having a “religious attitude” that ignores or belittles those who are not living according to God’s Word.
Remember, we were once in the same condition they are now. No one is without sin; everyone can be justified through faith in Christ.
Compassion Without Compromise
Showing love to sinners does not mean agreeing with their sinful lifestyle.
If they never interact with Christians, how will they see Jesus? We are called to love people without becoming best friends with them or spending excessive amounts of time if their lifestyle negatively influences us.
Jesus welcomed sinners without condoning their ways. He spoke the truth in love, and most people hunger for this love.
God’s love is different from human love. While human love is tolerant and accepts others as they are, God’s love accepts people but does not leave them unchanged. It calls them to rise above their current state and grow into what God intends for them.
A Call to Action
Ask the Lord to send sinners into your path so you can show them Christ’s love and pray for them. Always have empathy and mercy for sinners and avoid judging them, as we don’t know their life stories or why they make the choices they do. James 2:13 reminds us that mercy triumphs over judgment.
God’s love calls for transformation. When we love like Jesus, we encourage others to change and grow, leading them toward redemption and a closer relationship with God.
