Bless and be Blessed. Today, in our Daily Devotional for July 3, let’s explore how a generous heart that reaches out to meet the needs of those around us brings blessings into our own lives.
Daily Devotional for July 3
“Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” – Luke 6:38 (NIV)
Bless and Be Blessed
When we choose to have a generous heart, God pours His provision into our lives. A person who is a river of blessings never runs dry.
This principle is deeply rooted in the heart of every believer. We are called to help others and to be a source of encouragement and support.
The Desire to Help
Something deep within each believer wants to reach out and help others. However, selfishness can sometimes make us so focused on our own desires that we become oblivious to the needs around us.
The world is full of people who are hurting—some are poor, others are sick or lonely, and still others are emotionally wounded or have spiritual needs.
A simple act of kindness to a hurting person can make that individual feel loved and valuable. It doesn’t always take grand gestures; sometimes, small, thoughtful actions can have a profound impact.
The Trap of Selfishness
People can easily get caught in the trap of striving to have more and more. This struggle often produces little or no results. With God’s help, we can strive to excel in giving to others. If we do so, we will find that God makes sure we have enough to meet our own needs, plus plenty to give away.
When we bless others, we open ourselves up to receiving blessings in return. As Luke 6:38 reminds us, “Give, and it will be given to you.”
This is a promise from God that we will receive blessings abundantly as we pour out blessings.
Living Generously
Living a life of generosity means actively looking for ways to bless others. It means being attentive to the needs around us and responding with love and kindness.
When we live this way, we reflect the heart of God and become a source of His blessings to others.
