Keep focus on God – Prayer for May 13. It is advice for everybody who wants to progress in life to avoid disorderly friends as they can draw you back or limit you. Keep the focus on God, and let’s tell Him to give us the power to avoid friends that causes backwardness.

“I urge you, brothers and sisters, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Keep away from them.” (Romans 16:17)
One of the factors that cause backwardness or stagnancy in life is associating yourself with friends that are of dubious character.
They influence a life negatively in the way they do things. They do things that are against the word of God.
We get blessed when we avoid them and focus on God. Psalm 1:1 “Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers.”

Something again about them is that they are always critical and judgmental, self-centered, and thinking foolishly. Anytime you want to rise above them, they find every means to bring you down to their level. Joseph experienced this, not even from friends but from his brothers.
Most are found in the place of worship; they preach false doctrines and try to mislead people. Paul said that because the influence of such people is corrosive and quickly cancels out all virtues and good character in others, they must be avoided.
These kinds of people are not for Christ. They are only for their selves and will never allow people to rise above them.
Keep Focus on God Prayer for Today
Lord, every relationship I am into now that is not giving glory to your name, or that is not in line with your plans for my life, by your power Lord, help me to break myself away from such relationships. Friends causing my life to move backward and teaching false doctrines to deceive me, I receive the grace and the power to move away from them today. Please help me to build a strong and holy relationship with the right people today. I will keep the focus on God. Amen.
