Be light in a dark world – Prayer for August 16. Praise the Lord, everybody! The world talks about how some people know their stuff but are not good test takers, but when it comes down to faith, you either have it or don’t.
Bible Verse for Today
“Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you – unless, of course, you fail the test?” (2 Corinthians 13:5)
Every day we wake up, we need to affirm who we are in Christ and that He is in us. Then we must prepare ourselves for the test; the test is being a light in this dark and evil world each and every day.
Bracelets with WWJD on them are great if you put them to good use. Are you asking yourself, “What would Jesus do?” before committing yourself to act on something or plan about something?
When Paul wrote this to the Church at Corinth, he was challenging them to know for themselves who they were in Christ, and that Christ was in them, and not to be ashamed to trust their new nature. Paul knew who they were and what he had invested in them, but they were young in the faith and just learning to walk in Christ.

God is challenging believers today to never waiver in their faith, always knowing who they are and whom they serve. Sometimes we will make wrong choices, but if we decide to trust God in us every day, those bad choices will be few and far between.
We must remember that God never leaves or forsakes us; it is we who reject him. God bless you all.
Be Light in a Dark World Prayer for Today
Father God, help us to determine daily to be a light in this dark and evil world, trusting in what you have invested in us, your Holy Spirit, to lead us into all truth. Father, please help us not to doubt who we are in Christ and who Christ is in us. We pray all these things in Jesus’ name. Amen.
