Seek God first – Prayer for September 30. Praise the Lord, everybody!
The time to seek God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength is now, while you can still find Him.
Bible Verse for Today
Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the Lord God among the trees of the garden. But the Lord God called to the man, “Where are you?” (Genesis 3:8-9)
God wants to walk with us in the “cool of the day” when we relax and “chill out.” That time is when we usually talk to ourselves, making decisions and plans for the day and the future. He wants to participate in our inner conversations about our jobs and relationships.
It is clear from the preceding verses that God was used to simply walking with His creation in the cool of the day, interacting with it directly. And when man’s fall destroyed this close relationship, God was very disappointed.
From these Old Testament scriptures, it is apparent that God desired to walk amongst and be one with His creation, especially those who were obedient to His statutes and diligently sought His face.
In the New Testament, God, by His Spirit, dwells in all believers who have accepted His son Jesus Christ. A dwelling is one thing; to walk with is quite another.
God wants to do more than dwell with us
God wants to do more than dwell with us. He wants to walk with us and be involved in every part of our lives. God wants to listen to our daily concerns and advise us on handling whatever life throws our way.
When it comes to our relationship with God, we should always be the cool of the day. We should talk everywhere about everything, not just what we want or need. Open up to God; He’s a good listener! God bless you all.
Seek God First – Prayer for Today
Father God, thank you for loving us enough to want to walk with us in the “cool of the evening.” Lord, help us include you in every aspect of our lives. Teach us to remember that all aspects of our lives are of interest and importance to You. We promise to seek God first in everything! In Jesus’ name, we pray, Amen.
