Making faith stronger – Prayer for December 7. A mature faith does not develop overnight. If we want a deep, healthy, firm faith, we need to use it to make it stronger. Strong faith is crucially essential – you will feel more confident because you will know who to turn to – God.
Bible Verse for Today
“You know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.” (James 1:3)
Imagine a soldier in an army. Fresh recruits are not ready for combat immediately. You have to complete the basic training first. They are relentlessly drilled and have to do exercises. Instructors train the recruits to develop strength and tenacity.
How can we transfer this image to our faith? First, let’s recruit; we entrust our lives to Jesus Christ. Then comes the basic training: We learn how to grow in faith. The Holy Spirit is our instructor and our helper.
The Holy Spirit knows exactly what each of us needs to grow in faith, so we are prepared for all eventualities. All we have to do is obey him, even if it’s difficult, and trust that he knows how to strengthen our faith.
If you let the Holy Spirit train you, the result – a robust and firm faith – is worth every effort. Trust in the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and you will enter God’s world step by step. Look to God’s promise, be thankful, and glorify Him.
Making Faith Stronger Prayer for Today
Father God, we want to have a mature and robust faith. Holy Spirit, please teach us to live in faith and trust in every situation God gives us. Help us to keep our focus first on you, God. Please forgive us for giving too much time and attention to other people and things before coming to you first. We pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
