Don’t fall into temptation – Daily Prayer for January 4. When we get tempted sometimes, if we stay there we might fall into temptation. This is why we must learn to flee from every appearance of sin.
Bible Verse for Today
“Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body.” (1 Corinthians 6:18)
Sin or temptation may take different forms. We need to identify which is sin and we need to know how to run away from them when we identify them. When the Bible was telling us what to do when we notice something sinful is that we should flee and not walk away. There is a big difference between fleeing and walking away.
When we walk away it means we are contemplating on whether to do it or not do it but when we run away from the appearances of sin we have made our decision never to look back or to fall into that sin. The things that we do right now that are not right but we think we are doing the right thing because they seem right.
What we need to do in this case is to check the word of God and confirm if what you’re doing is right. If we see that we are doing the wrong thing the next thing for us to do is to run.
To flee is to fiercely rush away as when faced with horror. It did not say to walk away or stroll away. When someone is asking you to get involved in any form of sexual activity, do not consent to it but run instead. When someone is trying to lure you into doing evil, run away. This is the best way to avoid evil and to avoid every sinful act and temptation. Joseph is an example. When Potiphar’s wife tried to involve Joseph in sexual immortality, he ran away.
