Daily Devotional for September 26

“Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.” – Matthew 26:41 (NIV)

The Deception of Doubt

It’s important to understand that having feelings of doubt or uncertainty doesn’t mean you lack faith. These emotions are “peace stealers”—thoughts and feelings that are intended to weaken your relationship with God.

When doubt surfaces, it’s the enemy bringing a temptation intended to stop you from fully putting your confidence in the Lord.

Your faith isn’t failing; your mind is being attacked. We are often opposed by thoughts and emotions designed to distract us from the truth of God’s Word. The key to victory is to immediately recognize the source of that doubt and realize it is a lie. It is not a reflection of your reality in Christ; it is an attempt to deceive you.

Feed Your Faith

Jesus gave us the simple, powerful instruction to “watch and pray” (Matthew 26:40–41). When doubt or temptation arises, we must be alert (“watch”) and immediately take it to God (“pray”).

Don’t feed those doubts by dwelling on them or allowing them to become a scenario in your mind. Instead, feed your faith.

Remember what the Word says about your life, your identity, and your future. Ask God for the strength to reject the lie and to replace it with His truth. By consistently feeding your faith with the Word, you build an unshakable confidence that defeats the enemy’s every attempt to make you question God’s faithfulness.
