Faith with Shaking Knees daily Devotional for March 24

Today’s Daily Devotional for March 24, Faith with Shaking Knees, is a deep dive into something we all face but rarely talk about honestly: the physical, gut-wrenching feeling of fear. If your heart is racing today, don’t worry, you’re in good company.

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” – Joshua 1:9 (NIV)

Command vs. Feeling

When God told Joshua, “Do not be afraid,” He wasn’t giving him a medical diagnosis or telling him to magically switch off his nervous system. Fear is a spirit that produces very real physical feelings, sweaty palms, a racing heart, and a dry throat.

God wasn’t commanding Joshua not to feel fear; He was commanding him not to give in to it. There is a massive difference between having a feeling and letting that feeling have you. You can be terrified and obedient at the exact same time.

The “Do It Afraid” Manifesto

One of the most liberating truths you can embrace is the concept of “doing it afraid.” Most people wait for the fear to vanish before they take a step of faith. If you wait for the fear to leave, you might never leave your front door.

Courage isn’t the absence of fear; it’s the realization that something else is more important.

If God is telling you to speak up, speak up, even if your voice cracks. If he’s telling you to move, move, even if your knees are knocking together. If he’s telling you to trust, trust, even if your mind is screaming, “What if?”

The “Fear Not” of the Bible is an invitation to move forward even when fear is still present.

Meditate to Mitigate

When fear attacks your emotions, you need a counter-attack for your mind. This is why we have Scripture. You don’t just read the Word for information; you meditate on it for fortification. God’s promises act as a spiritual anchor, keeping you steady when the winds of anxiety try to blow you off course.

When you fill your mind with what God says, you starve your fear of the attention it needs to grow.

Prayer for Today

Heavenly Father, I thank You that I don’t have to wait for my fear to disappear before I can be useful to You. Lord, my palms might be sweaty, and my heart might be racing, but I choose to trust You anyway. Give me the strength to “do it afraid” today. I refuse to live as a slave to my feelings. I stand on Your Word and move forward in Your name. Amen.

To You

Is there one thing you’ve been putting off because you’re waiting to “feel more confident”? Identify that one thing and do it today. Don’t wait for the fear to go away first, just take the step and let the fear watch you succeed.
