Doing God’s Work – Ministering to a Friend in Need Prayer for May 6. There are people around us that are in need of one thing or the other and at the same time, we need to talk to them about the love of God. Let’s tell God to teach us how to minister to friends in need or crisis.
Bible Verse for Today
“Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.” (Hebrews 13:16)
God wants us to do well to people around us, he wants us to demonstrate who He is to people – God is Love. (1 John 4:8).
There friends around us that are emotionally down, financially down, and they wish they could get help from anybody. Sometimes, there is nothing we can say to them that can comfort them or solve their problems. What we must do is to show love – we are commanded to love our neighbor.
If you want to minister to a friend in need, you can’t just go to them and start talking because it won’t solve anything. In such a way we are doing God’s work.
Before approaching them, pray to God first. Prayer solves things that we can’t solve ourselves, praying to God in this kind of situation is that you are telling him to take control of everything. Another thing you can do is to look into their lives and know what exactly they need. Check out for what they are missing and assist with anything you have.
By doing this, you can then gain their hearts and then introduce the good news to them.
Jesus wants us to reach out to everybody in crisis or in need and not just friends because by doing this, we show who our God is and we get blessed by God himself.
Doing God’s Work Ministering to a Friend in Need Prayer for Today
Lord, you have called me to work for you – you have shown me love and you told us to love our neighbors. Give me the courage to minister to a friend in need with love. Give me the wisdom to approach them in a way that I will get their attention. I pray also that you provide for me to help their needs too. Let your name alone be glorified. Amen.
