Jesus said, “Follow Me.” This is one of the most beautiful invitations you have ever received. God, Himself gives you this invitation personally. Jesus calls us to be his disciples. And it is up to the individual’s free choice whether or not to accept that invitation.
Devotional for today, February 18
“As he walked along, he saw Levi son of Alphaeus sitting at the tax collector’s booth. “Follow me,” Jesus told him, and Levi got up and followed him.” (Mark 2:14)
Follow Me
Everyone is invited to follow Jesus. The invitation applies to all humans because it is the one true and divine way of life. We are called to live in harmony with God, who created us, and in communion with one another.
This invitation is an invitation to share in the life and ministry of Jesus. The term “disciple” comes from the Greek word mathetes. It means ‘learner.’ When we follow Jesus, we are invited to grow in our understanding of him and his teaching to share his life-changing message with others.

Who are those who respond to Jesus’ call? Those who desire to follow him. He calls us to a new life: communion with God and living out that communion in our daily lives.
The invitation to follow Jesus may seem significant. But if you let God take you by the hand and lead you, it will not be as difficult as you think. Take a step of faith today and accept Jesus into your life. It will be the happiest moment of your life.
Jesus is the Good Shepherd. He lays down his life for his sheep. Trust him. Yes, for sure, you can trust him.
Prayer for Today
Lord Jesus, give me the courage to risk accepting your call. You are my Shepherd and my guide. I trust in you. Amen.
