Welcome to your daily devotional for February 16. Today, we explore a spiritual paradox: how standing still in the Gospel of Peace is actually the most effective way to win your battles.
The Gospel of Peace – Daily Devotional for February 16
“Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.” – Ephesians 6:14-15 (NIV)
The Paradox of Victory
The Bible presents us with a strategy that often feels like a paradox: if we meet our battles with peace and respond to life’s upsets with a calm spirit, we will experience victory.
From a human perspective, this doesn’t make much sense. We are taught to fight, to push back, and to struggle for control. We ask ourselves, “How can I possibly win if I stop fighting?”
The answer lies in the spiritual armor God provides. When your feet are fitted with the readiness of the Gospel of Peace, you aren’t running away from the battle; you are standing firm in a way that the world doesn’t understand. Peace isn’t the absence of conflict; it is the presence of God in the midst of it.
Let the Lord Fight
There is a promise in Scripture: “The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace and remain at rest” (Exodus 14:14). What does this mean? It means that when we refuse to let an upset steal our internal rest, we create space for God’s power to move.
When we “hold our peace,” we are essentially saying, “Lord, I trust Your strength more than my own struggle.” Remaining at rest isn’t being passive or lazy; it is an active stance of faith. By refusing to meet chaos with more chaos, you invite the Prince of Peace to take the lead. In His hands, your “rest” becomes a weapon that defeats the enemy’s attempts to discourage you.

Prayer for Today
Father God, I thank You for the gift of Your peace. Lord, as I face the battles and upsets of this day, help me to stand firm in the Gospel of Peace. Teach me how to hold my peace and remain at rest, trusting that You are fighting for me. I choose to put my feet in Your readiness and move through this day with a quiet, confident spirit. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
To You
Identify one situation in your life right now that feels like a “battle.” Instead of trying to fix it through worry or fighting today, consciously choose to “hold your peace.” Every time a stressful thought arises, remind yourself: “The Lord is fighting for me.”
