Every day presents new opportunities and challenges, and how we respond can shape our faith and impact those around us. Move forward with Jesus – means actively choosing His way over ours, focusing on His promises, and being a beacon of His love and forgiveness. In our Daily Devotion for April 20, let’s explore what it means to carry this mindset into our daily lives.
Daily Devotional for April 20
“Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead.” (Philippians 3:13)
Choose to Move Forward with Jesus
It’s easy to get stuck reliving the past—dwelling on hurts, failures, or missed opportunities. However, God calls you to move forward with Jesus, casting aside anything that hinders your spiritual growth and embracing the new things He has in store for you.
This includes releasing old grudges, forgiving those who wronged you, and leaving unresolved issues in God’s capable hands.
Set Your Mind on Higher Things
As you strive to move forward, guiding your thoughts in alignment with God’s word is crucial. Second Corinthians 10:5 encourages us to take every thought captive to obey Christ. This means actively dismissing negative imaginations and lofty ideas that set themselves against the knowledge of God.
By focusing on what is true, noble, proper, pure, lovely, and admirable, you prepare yourself to be a blessing to others, especially those within the household of faith.
Be a Blessing
To move forward with Jesus is not just a personal journey; it’s a communal one as well. As you walk in obedience and faith, look for opportunities to bless others. “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” (Galatians 6:2)
Whether through a kind word, a helpful action, or simply a listening ear, your life can reflect the love and comfort of Christ to those around you.
