Dear brothers and sisters, it is such a blessing to start another day with you. On this March 14, in our devotional “The Power of a New Beginning,” we dive into the beautiful truth of new beginnings.
The Power of a New Beginning – Daily Devotional for March 14
“When they had all had enough to eat, he said to his disciples, ‘Gather the pieces that are left over. Let nothing be wasted.'” — John 6:12 (NIV)
The God of Second Chances
One of the most incredible aspects of a relationship with God is His commitment to new beginnings. We see this throughout the Gospels: Jesus chose disciples with glaring weaknesses who made frequent mistakes.
He didn’t wait for them to be perfect; He worked with them right where they were to help them reach their full potential. He is ready to do the same for you today, provided you are willing to let Him in.
Recovery is a Decision
Recovering from pain, disappointment, or a major setback isn’t something that happens by accident to “lucky” people. Recovery is a decision.
You have to make the choice to let go of the past and move forward.
Instead of dwelling on what you have lost, take an inventory of what you have left. When you gather the “fragments” of your life, the lessons, the remaining strengths, and the small sparks of hope, and give them to Jesus, He ensures that none of it is wasted. He can take the broken pieces and use them to create something even more resilient.
Learning as We Go
None of us is born an expert at living. We learn through experience, and quite often, our best lessons come from our mistakes. Since mistakes are inevitable, we shouldn’t let them define us. Instead:
- Acknowledge the mistake. See it as a classroom, not a courtroom.
- Decide to move. Don’t stay stagnant in regret.
When you live with the confidence that you can always recover, you become a powerful witness of God’s grace. Setbacks are just setups for a comeback.

Prayer for Today
Heavenly Father, I thank You that Your mercies are brand new today. I decide right now to let go of past disappointments and the pain of my mistakes. I give You the fragments of my life, trusting that You will let nothing be wasted. Help me to focus on what I have left and how I can use it to serve You. Give me the strength to be a living example of Your restoring power. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
To You
Take a “Gratitude Inventory” today. Write down three things you still have talents, relationships, or opportunities, despite any recent losses. Focus your energy on using those three things today.
