Seeing the Light daily Devotional for March 15

Dear brothers and sisters, it’s a privilege to walk this journey of faith with you. As we open our hearts to March 15, our devotional “Seeing the Light” brings us to one of the most powerful encounters in the Gospel of John.

“Neither this man nor his parents sinned,” said Jesus, “but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him.” – John 9:3 (NIV)

From Blame to Purpose

In John 9, the disciples encounter a man born blind and immediately look for someone to blame. They ask whose sin caused the condition, the man’s or his parents’? It’s a very human reaction to want to find a reason for suffering. We often do the same thing: “What did I do wrong to deserve this?”

Jesus, however, shifts the perspective entirely. He isn’t interested in looking backward at the cause; He is focused on looking forward to the purpose. He explains that the man’s situation exists so that God’s glory can be revealed.

If you are in a dark season today, stop looking for someone to blame and start asking how God might display His light through your story.

Spiritual Sight vs. Physical Sight

The story takes a dramatic turn when the Pharisees investigate the miracle.

Ironically, the man who was physically blind begins to see Jesus for who He truly is, the Son of God. Meanwhile, the religious leaders, who have perfect physical vision, remain spiritually blind. They are so caught up in their “rules” that they cannot see the Light of the World standing right in front of them.

True sight isn’t about what your eyes can see; it’s about what your heart recognizes. You can have all the knowledge in the world and still be in the dark if you refuse to see God’s hand at work in the unexpected.

The Simple Truth

When the man is pressured by the critics to explain Jesus, he offers one of the most honest and powerful testimonies in the Bible: “One thing I do know. I was blind, but now I see!” (John 9:25).

You don’t need to have all the theological answers to be a witness. Your experience of God’s grace is your greatest argument. When God moves in your life, you don’t have to defend it; you just have to live it.

Prayer for Today

Heavenly Father, I thank You that You see me even when I feel like I’m in the dark. Please forgive me for focusing on “why” things are happening rather than on “how” you can be glorified. Open the eyes of my heart today. Help me to see You in the ordinary and the extraordinary. I want to live in Your light and share it with everyone I meet. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

To You

Is there a situation in your life that feels like a “blind spot”? Instead of trying to figure out why it’s there, pray this today: “Lord, let Your work be displayed in this situation.” Then, look for one small thing you can see that you are grateful for.
