Pray for Grace – Prayer for Lent #day 6. We can do many things, we can put in our power, our minds but will they last? Does that mean putting our power into something will make us do it the right way? No. What we need is more grace to carry on and never stop. Let’s tell God to give us more grace.
Bible Verse for Today
“But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” (2 Corinthians 12:9)
In the Bible text, the Lord was telling Paul about His grace. Paul was lamenting about a thorn in his flesh. He prayed three times that the Lord should take it away but the Lord told him all he needed was grace.
Thorn could be anything in our lives right now. It doesn’t matter the level or the position we are in right now, thorns are always finding a way into us.
The fact that you have the energy to partake in Lent doesn’t mean you will not have a weakness. Thorn in our lives is a weakness in us. This is what the enemy, Satan looks for in us to attack.
What we should be praying for is the grace of God and we should pray for more grace. The reason for this is for us to be able to boast just like Paul was able to boast that in our weakness, Christ is made strong and the strength of Christ will lift.
When we talk about more grace – it means God giving us more strength to endure whatever that may come our way. There would be temptations and you think you can overcome temptations. If you think you can, the intensity will increase, the only way to escape this is through the grace that comes through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Through the period of Lent, one of the verses you be conversant in 1 Peter 5:10 “And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.”
This verse talks about God strengthening you through grace – don’t rely on your power or your strength, they will fail you.
Only the grace of God can keep you going and help you to finish well. Tell God to show you more grace and never stop to strengthen you.

Dear Lord, thank you for the grace that you have shown me. It is by your grace that I am alive. My strength cannot carry to this level. I pray that you show me more grace. Where I am weak, Lord, strengthen me. Amen.
