Putting love into action – Prayer for Lent #day 29. Lent is a time that we prepare ourselves for Easter. For the time that Jesus died for us and was resurrected so that we can have life in Him and have it in abundance. He did because he loved us. This is why we should show love during Lent.
Bible Verse for Today
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)
This is to remind you again that it is important to show love in this period that we are in.
God loved us while we were sinners. We did not worth what Jesus did for us but because there is something called love. We can now call on God through Jesus Christ. Love has done a lot for us. This is the reason why love must be resounded to everyone during this period of Lent.
Love is important. You must have read about this yesterday, the day before yesterday. And you might have heard someone talk to you about this today but it is not enough.
Love is something that you must not just hear about, it is something that must be put into action. Not just showing love to the people in the church, the people you know, or the people that are your friends. Jesus took the challenge further by saying that we should love our enemies. They are the people who want bad for us in life but yet, we must love them dearly.
It might be hard to do this but we must not see it as something too hard for us. We must not be afraid to love. The Lord has not given us the spirit of fear. 2 Timothy 1:7 “For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.”
One of the spirits that God has given us to replace the spirit of fear is the spirit of love. There is no fear in God, it is the spirit of love that is in God. We have been made in His image which is why we must possess the spirit of love and not the spirit of fear. Also, God will not give us this spirit and then we kill it by not showing it forth to the people. We must show it and that is how the spirit will live.
Putting Love into Action Prayer for Today
Dear Lord, I believe you loved me and that is why you have given me life through Jesus Christ my savior. I pray, Lord, that in this period of Lent if I have not been showing love, forgive me and help me to love people the way you have loved. Make your power of love rest on me. Amen.
