TAKING THE RIGHT PATH Lent #day 28

taking the right path

Taking the right path – Prayer for Lent #day 28. There are things that we need to make sure they in place in the period of Lent – one of these things is self-discipline. It doesn’t matter how spiritual we are we must learn to control ourselves. Let us tell God to renew our minds so that we will not do the wrong thing.

Bible Verse for Today

“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” (Romans 12:2)

There is something that we need to know about self-control or self-discipline. It has to do with the mind. Before we do anything, we must have thought of it in ourselves. The mind plays a big role in our actions. This is the reason why we must change the way we think. We cannot do this ourselves, we can only tell God to help us out.

That is why the biblical text says, we must not be conformed to the world but renew our mind – this we can do through the help of the Holy Spirit.

When we have renewed our minds, we will always think of the good things and we will not do things that will put us in trouble. The kind of trouble that the lack of self-discipline will put us might not be the physical one, it might put us into sin and through sin, we are exposed to danger.

Lack of self-control or self-discipline put David in danger. While kings went to war, he was in his palace when he saw a beautiful woman bathing from the roof – he could not control himself. Through this, he sinned and he was punished for this. We cannot for the sake of Lent refuse to put ourselves in check to know if we are walking the right path or we are taking the wrong path.

It is time that we know the benefit of self-control in this time of Lent.

If we want the blessings of the Lord, we must control ourselves not to go the wrong way. Paul said in 1 Corinthians 9:27 “But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I should be a castaway.” This is the same thing that we must do. We must tell God to help us to renew our minds and change the way we think.

Let us know how to control ourselves so that we will not be denied the blessings of Lent.

Taking the Right Path Prayer of Today
