It is a joy to walk through this day with you. In this Daily Devotional for March 9, we focus on the active nature of our belief. Faith is not just an internal feeling; it is something we release through our habits and our speech. Release Your Faith.
Release Your Faith – Daily Devotional for March 9
“But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves.” — James 1:22 (NASB)
Three Ingredients of Active Faith
Faith is released by praying, saying, and doing whatever God asks of us. These three actions move our trust from our heads into our daily lives.
Praying
Prayer should always be your first response, not a last resort. Because of Christ, you can come boldly to God and ask for help. Instead of only praying for a problem to disappear, ask for the strength to wait with a good attitude. A positive spirit while you wait is a strong witness of your faith to others.
Saying
After you pray, your words should reflect your belief. You do not need to deny that a problem exists, but you should try to talk about it as little as possible. Instead, speak about your expectation for a breakthrough. Your conversation shows where your trust truly lies.
Doing
Faith requires obedience. This means doing what you believe God is asking of you. Sometimes, He may even ask you to do nothing and wait. In those moments, “doing nothing” is the most faithful action you can take.
Avoid the Trap of Reasoning
It is easy to listen to the Word of God and agree with it intellectually, but James warns us that we deceive ourselves if we stop there. Human reasoning often works against spiritual truth. We might talk ourselves out of a breakthrough because it doesn’t make logical sense.
Victory comes when we move past our own reasoning and choose to be “doers” of the Word. When we align our prayers, our speech, and our actions with God’s direction, we invite His involvement in our situation.

Prayer for Today
Heavenly Father, I thank You that Your Word is true. Help me to be more than just a listener today. I want to be a doer of Your Word. Give me the grace to pray with confidence and the strength to wait with a good attitude. Guide my speech so that I speak of Your goodness more than my problems. I choose to obey whatever You ask of me today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
To You
Identify one situation you have been worried about. Apply the three ingredients: pray for strength, speak words of expectation, and ask God if there is a specific action (or a “holy pause”) He wants you to take today.
