“Whoever is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much, and whoever is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much.” – Luke 16:10 (ESV)
Faithfulness in the Little Things
Jesus gives us a profound principle for life: our faithfulness in the “very little” reveals our true character (Luke 16:10-13).
The choices we make when no one is watching—the tiny decisions about our time, our words, our integrity—are the building blocks of who we are. These seemingly insignificant moments are the true test of our loyalty and trustworthiness.
A small act of dishonesty may seem harmless, but it’s a crack in the foundation of your integrity. Over time, these small cracks can grow, leading to a larger breach and the eventual ruin of our credibility and character. God is watching these small choices because He knows they are an accurate predictor of whether we can be trusted with more.
Serve One Master
Jesus applies this principle directly to our handling of money and worldly resources. He says, “If then you have not been faithful in the unrighteous wealth, who will entrust to you the true riches?” (v. 11). He presents money as a test—a litmus test for our loyalty to Him.
Our attitude toward our finances, whether we are honest with our taxes, generous with our giving, or disciplined with our spending, shows whether we are serving God or “mammon.”
The choice is clear: “No servant can serve two masters” (v. 13). We cannot be devoted to both God and money. Our daily faithfulness in managing the “little things”—our finances, our time, our relationships—is a continuous act of service to the Master of our hearts.
These small acts demonstrate our devotion and prepare us for the “true riches” of His Kingdom.

Prayer for Today
Heavenly Father, thank you for the truth that my faithfulness in the little things matters to you. Forgive me for the times I have been careless or dishonest in small ways. Please help me to be a person of integrity in every area of my life. I want to serve only you, so I ask for the strength to manage my time, my resources, and my relationships in a way that proves my faithfulness. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
