Welcome to your daily devotional for September 22, A System for Peace. Today, we’re going to confront one of life’s most common “peace stealers”: anxiety. It’s so easy to get caught in a cycle of worry, but as believers, we have a clear path to true peace that goes beyond mere wishful thinking.
Daily Devotional for September 22
“Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” – Matthew 6:34 (ESV)
The Waste of Worry
Anxiety, fear, and dread are a total waste of energy. They never produce any good results and only leave us feeling tired and frustrated.
Jesus, in His Sermon on the Mount, commands us not to be anxious about tomorrow. Why? Because each day has enough for us to consider on its own. When we spend today worrying about tomorrow, we’re essentially trying to live two days at once.
God has equipped us to handle life as it comes, but He will not help us worry about a future that hasn’t arrived. The first step to conquering anxiety is to recognize that it’s a “peace stealer” that has no place in a life of faith.
A System for Peace
True peace isn’t a result of unfounded dreams or a magic wand that makes all our problems disappear. It comes from a clearly understood system of life found in God’s Word.
Life is a journey to the Kingdom of Heaven, and we are called to realize the talents God has given us and help others along the way.
- Realize the ultimate goal – the Kingdom of Heaven.
- Realize yourself – talents received from God.
- Help others – love other people.
When our focus is on pursuing the Kingdom of God and serving others, our own worries begin to shrink.
This is where true confidence comes from. We can be calm not because we’re immune to problems, but because we know that no matter what challenges lie ahead, with God’s help, we will overcome them.
Even when unpleasant things happen, we can thank God that He can turn them for our good, if we keep praying and trusting in Him (Romans 8:28). The only way to get rid of anxiety is to intentionally choose to place our trust in God’s system and His purposes.

Prayer for Today
Heavenly Father, I confess that I often allow worry and anxiety to steal my peace. Forgive me for not trusting You with my future. Help me to focus on today’s tasks and to live in a way that honors You. I place my confidence in Your promise to work all things for my good. I choose to trust You and not be anxious about tomorrow. Amen.
To You
What is one thing you have been worrying about? Take a moment to write it down, then prayerfully hand it over to God. Ask Him to help you focus on today and to trust Him with tomorrow.
